Comment, and a poll.  What type of radio equipment is common amongst the group??  I'm finding myself deep in the radio world again.  And finding some REALLY nice surprises after several years away.  Namely, costs of gear has TANKED!!  Adding encrypted radio equipment is actually quite affordable now.  (Not that I didn't have more than my fair share before.)  The protocol I am equipped with is DES-XL, mainly on my UHF radios.  But, I am working on adding VHF gear with Crypto.  Questions? Ideas?? Thoughts???  Let's talk comm-gear...

As for Radio, I only have those two TK-2100 VHF Portable MURS Radios.

So far I really like 'em.  I still think Rob at Murs may have some left.

As for Field Phones, I found a source for some TA-1/PT sound powered units.  If you're interested, let me know.  $45 for two, tested in military working condition.  Commo wire not included.

As for crypto, unless you're talking STU and STE encrypted narrow band stuff, I have no experiance with it.

I'd say you're far more knowledgeable and you using your best judgement would be best.

If you want to explain the different types and outline the benefits and such that's cool too.

Either way, I trust your knowledge in that area.
